If I have write caching off on the USB, which to my understanding protects it from significant data corruption if disconnected during a write (i.e.What's the difference between encrypting the entire USB drive and just creating an encrypted file container on the drive and moving all the data into it? Would they be basically the same thing?.I could do this but it would take some extra work to reload all the data currently on the drive, as I don't have access to the originals right now and don't have space on my computer to store all of it while reformatting. The top few tutorials online for encrypting a USB with VeraCrypt say to encrypt the whole USB drive using VeraCrypt, which would reformat it and erase all the data. I have a SanDisk 256 GB USB Flash Drive that I was planning on using SanDisk's SecureAccess encryption software for, but changed my mind after a bit of research about encryption software.
